The interlocking graft transplantation technique, also known as the interlocking FUE technique, is an evolved version of the FUE technique that allows a tighter arrangement of grafts in a way that the next row of hair grafts is arranged to somewhat in between the previous row of hair grafts, which is not possible in example of a hair transplant arrangement in parallel.
Because the hair grafts do not compete for the same space as in a parallel arrangement, interlocking also improves the fit of the hair grafts. Furthermore, the hair transplant team finds it far simpler to put interlaced grafts than a non-interlocked arrangement. This is because as the hair grafts compete for space in a parallel configuration, those in a non-interlocked pattern have a tendency to pop or come out.
